IN-COMING STUDENT

Responsibilities: for 3 full weeks minimum
- Demonstrates an understanding of the Values of Rocklyn Academy Courage, Integrity and Health.
- Understands the responsibilities and privileges of each level of the Rocklyn Wheel.
- Has met with her Group Leader(s) to establish academic and personal goals for her time at Rocklyn, as well as personal strengths and challenges.
- Attends mandatory Group and House Meetings.
- Starts to follow the Rocklyn Academy’s Expectations as outlined in the General, Academic, Residential and Personal Care Expectations and Standards for Student Uniforms.
- Maintain 80 or above in the Study Management Index
- Completes daily and weekly contributions.
- Prepares dinner when scheduled.
- Participates in The Smart Nutrition Program.
- Begins to say, “Yes” instead of “yah”.
- Begins to use respectful language including “Please” and “Thank you”.
- Demonstrates an awareness of swearing and begins to work at not swearing.
- Has been assigned a therapist and has attended two sessions.
- Must have a minimum score of 750 on the Hummingbird Report to be eligible to move to Lead

Privileges:
- One phone call with therapist per week to immediate family after the first two weeks.
- Walks on the property while accompanied by a staff, head girl or prefect.
- Academic outings

LEAD POSITION  
|
|
Responsibilities: for 3 full weeks minimum
- Displays behaviour that reflects the Values of Rocklyn Academy Courage, Integrity and Health.
- Demonstrates consistency in the adherence of Rocklyn Academy’s expectations as outlined in the General, Academic, Residential and Personal Care Expectations and Standards for Student Uniforms.
- Demonstrates consistency in attaining levels 3 and 4 in the Contribution and Room Check Rubrics.
- Demonstrates the use of “Yes” instead of “yah”.
- Consistently use of respectful language including “Please” and “Thank you”.
- Actively engages in the reduction of swear words.
- Stands up and actively greets visitors with an introduction and handshake.
- Shows consistency in reviewing and progressing with her two goals, both academic and personal growth.
- Maintain 80 or above in the Study Management Index
- Attends and begins to participate in weekly Group and House Meetings and individual therapy sessions.
- Is engaged in personal feedback with Group Leaders using the Hummingbird Report.
- Demonstrates courage in personal challenges and engagement in personal growth experiences.
- Participates in all planned activities.
- Adheres to bedtimes without argument.
- Does not engage in cutting, scratching, piercing, tattooing, branding or playing the choking game etc.
- Must maintain a minimum score of 750 on the Hummingbird Report to remain a Lead
- Must have a minimum score of 900 on the Hummingbird Report to be eligible to move to Leader

- Unlimited letters, emails and packages to and from family.
- Group and School outings (except Friday evenings).
- 1 piece of jewellery (no piercing).

LEADER   
|
|
Responsibilities: for 4 full weeks minimum
- Demonstrates consistency in applying the Values of Courage, Integrity and Health in daily life.
- Demonstrates consistency in applying the Values of Courage, Integrity and Health in daily life.
- Demonstrates personal consistency in following, and begins to positively role model, the Rocklyn Academy’s expectations as outlined in the General, Academic, Standards for Student Uniforms, Residential and Personal Care expectations.
- Continues to demonstrate consistency in attaining levels 3 and 4 in the Contribution and Room Check Rubrics.
- Demonstrates consistency in the academic program as evidenced in the PIR reports and maintains 80 or above in the Study Management Index.
- Sets a positive example in regards to classroom behaviour: treats teachers and other students with respect; shows kindness in helping other students; is able to work independently in class; shows consistency with being in class on time and ready; keeps academic work caught up and handed in on time; wears uniform according to the Rocklyn standards.
- Demonstrates consistent use of “Yes” instead of “yah”.
- Demonstrates consistent use of respectful language including using “Please” and “Thank you” and no swearing.
- Is consciously working on Speaking from the “I”.
- Greets staff by name.
- Demonstrates good table manners.
- Adheres to Bedtimes without argument.
- Actively participates in all planned activities.
- Notifies other students and encourages them to be prompt for meetings, class time and/or other activities.
- Stands up and greets visitors with an introduction and handshake.
- Attends and participates in weekly Group and House Meetings and individual therapy sessions.
- Is engaged in personal feedback giving and receiving with Group Leaders using the Hummingbird and PIR reports.
- Demonstrates continued courage in dealing with personal challenges and growth experiences.
- Actively intervenes in covert and overt bullying behaviour. Alerts staff of same.
- Demonstrates progress in the area of academic and personal growth goals.
- Monitors a morning and an afternoon snack at least once a week.
- Check off Contributions and Room Checks at least once a week.
- Does not engage in cutting, scratching, piercing, tattooing, branding or playing the choking game etc.
- Must maintain a minimum score of 900 on the Hummingbird Report to remain a Leader
- Must have a minimum score of 1100 on the Hummingbird Report to be eligible to move to Prefect

Privileges:
- Two phone calls (a maximum of 15 minutes each) per week to family.
- Unlimited letters, emails and packages to and from family
- Group and School outings, including every other Friday Night.
- Two on-campus or off-campus visits with family per semester, no longer than 6 hours per visit.
- 2 pieces of jewellery (no piercing).
- May choose colour and paint one wall of room (consensus with roommate necessary).
- Walks anywhere on the property with permission by staff.
|
PREFECT     |
|
Responsibilities: for 5 weeks minimum
- Consistently demonstrates the Values of Courage, Integrity and Health in an identifiable way in her daily life. Shows the ability to explain and encourage other students to display these Values.
- Demonstrates consistency in excellent performance in daily contributions and weekly major contributions.
- Demonstrates excellent performance in the academic program as evidenced in the PIR reports.
- Demonstrates compassion, care and concern for self and others.
- Engages in daily positive class and school expectations, provides encouragement and help to students when they are struggling academically, assists with transition times during class hours, exhibits excellent classroom conduct and reinforces that behaviour in other students, always up to date with school work and the handing in of assignments on time.
- Maintain 80 or above in the Study Management Index
- Demonstrates leadership with being in charge of a class when the teacher is not present, supervises and/or assists at Extra Study and Study Hall time.
- Demonstrated awareness by consistently speaking from the “I”, using “yes” instead of “yah”, using “Please” and “Thank you”, greeting staff and other students by name, does not swear, and greets visitors with a welcome, introduction and handshake.
- Attends and participates in weekly Group and House Meetings and personal therapy sessions.
- Actively participates in all planned activities and plans and leads 2 weekend activities per semester.
- Is actively participating in giving and receiving personal feedback with Group Leaders using the Hummingbird and PIR reports.
- Participates in co-leading at least one House Meeting.
- Demonstrates continued courage in dealing with personal challenges and growth experiences.
- Demonstrates progress in the area of academic and personal growth goals, asks for help if necessary, attempts to mediate student arguments and works at providing support for other students with their challenges.
- Actively demonstrates intervention in both overt and covert bullying behaviour. Alerts staff of same.
o Monitors a morning and an afternoon snack at least twice a week.
- Demonstrates excellent table manners at all meals.
- With staff, ensures that all students are in their rooms at room time and bedtime.
- Assists with Head Girl responsibilities when required.
- Assists staff through understanding, supporting and role modelling the Rocklyn expectations.
- Fill out Hummingbird sheets for the Honouring Ceremony.
- Check off Contributions and Room Checks at least twice a week.
- Does not engage in cutting, scratching, piercing, tattooing, branding or playing the choking game etc.
- Must maintain a minimum score of 1100 on the Hummingbird Report to remain a Prefect
- Must have a minimum score of 1150 on 2 consecutive Hummingbird Report to be eligible to move to Head Girl

Privileges:
- Two phone calls (a maximum of 15 minutes each) per week to family .
- Unlimited letters, e-mails and packages to and from family and family approved friends.
- All Group and School outings.
- Two on-campus or off-campus visits with family for the semester (includes Leader leaves) no longer than 8 hours per visit.
- One privileged weekend leave per semester (Friday after class or Honouring Ceremony until Sunday 5:00 pm).
- 3 pieces of jewellery (no piercing).
- May choose colour and paint one other wall of your room (consensus with roommate necessary).
- At Study Hall time, may study at table in own room.
- Bedtime is extended by 15 minutes.
- On or off property walks
- Extra outing once a semester
- Grocery shopping
- Has 2nd choice of bedroom after Head Girl
|
HEAD GIRL      |
Responsibilities:
- Be an excellent role model and uphold all of the Rocklyn Expectations.
- Consistently display a high level of Courage, Integrity and Health, and explain and encourage other students to display these Values.
- Demonstrates consistency in excellent performance in daily contributions and weekly major contributions
- Demonstrates excellent performance in the academic program as evidenced in the PIR reports.
- Be consistently compassionate, caring and concerned for self and others.
- Engages consistency in positive school work; take an active role in the support and encouragement of students when they are struggling academically; assist with transition times during class hours; exhibit excellent classroom conduct and reinforce that behaviour in other students; always up to date with school work and hand in assignments on time.
- Maintain 80 or above in the Study Management Index
- Demonstrates leadership with being in charge of a class when the teacher is not present, supervises and/or assists at Extra Study and Study Hall time.
- Demonstrates awareness by consistently Speaking from the “I”, using “yes” instead of “yah”, using “Please” and “Thank you”, greeting staff and other students by name, does not swear, and greets visitors with a welcome, introduction and handshake.

- Achieves academic and personal goals.
- Assists Prefects with their responsibilities if needed.
- Mediates student arguments and provides support for other students with their challenges.
- Actively demonstrates intervention in both overt and covert bullying behaviour. Alerts staff of same.
- Assists staff in all aspects of program implementation.
- Encourages and assists other students with all aspects of Rocklyn Academy.
- Fill out Hummingbird sheets for the Honouring Ceremony.
- Check off Contributions and Room Checks at least three times a week.
- Does not engage in cutting, scratching, piercing, tattooing, branding or playing the choking game etc.
- Organizes, buys and distributes Tuck for all students.
- Must maintain a minimum score of 1150 on the Hummingbird Report to remain a Head Girl

Privileges:
- Two phone calls (a maximum of 15 minutes each) per week to family and one phone call (a maximum of 15 minutes) to family-approved friend and with family permission.
- Letters, emails and packages to and from family and family approved friends.
- All Group and School outings.
- Three on-campus or off-campus visits with family for the semester (includes Prefect leaves already taken) 12-hour maximum.
- 4 pieces of jewellery (no piercing)
- May choose colour and paint the other walls of your room (consensus with roommate necessary).
- Two privileged weekend Leaves per semester if a privilege weekend has been taken as a Prefect in the same semester, then only 1 more. (Friday after class or Honouring Ceremony until Sunday 5:00 pm).
- 4 pieces of jewellery may be worn (no piercing).
- May study in own room.
- Bedtime is extended by 30 minutes.
- Off property to town community centre, baseball or soccer field events
- Extra outing once a month eg. An afternoon or evening out
- Grocery shopping
- Has 1st choice of bedrooms
